Illustrator Paul Roberts is highly skilled when it comes to working with pattern, colour, and design.
Kelling Designs chose to collaborate with Paul to emphasise a mutual appreciation for colour through a collection of Paul’s illustrations and pattern designs.
Paul began by working on an illustration for a wallpaper inspired by an era, a place and fashion. The ‘Paris in the 60s’ wallpaper was then born. Each stunningly fashionable character included in this design is accompanied by their equally fashionable accessories – their dogs. The paper has wit, charm and elegance. The collection evolved and two more designs were created – London in the 60s and New York in the 70s.
The collaboration with Paul progressed to a series of textile prints to launch the first Kelling Designs Fabric collection which includes Oak Leaf, Time and Lines, Hearts and Minds and Alotablots. Many of these fabrics are used on furniture designs in the Kelling Home collection.
